Kilim It: That Scarf by Drake's
I have a lot of time for the scarf.
No matter how intricate or simplistic your outfit is, the right scarf will (or should, at least) accentuate and let people know that you know your stuff. An eye-catching pattern can bring an outfit to life, while the composition of the fabric brings functionality into the picture - tying it in perfectly for changing temperatures.
Similarly with ties, there’s seldom a brand in the United Kingdom that champion, create and curate their selection of scarves with such aplomb as Drake’s.
I’ve obsessed over the kilim-styled wool and silk scarf for quite some time for several reasons. In addition to the fact that they’re superbly versatile, you’re always going to have a great quality piece with Drake’s: the design, colours and composition ensures you’ve got something that will stand the test of time. I wholeheartedly support the idea of buying less, and buying better, and in turn supporting brands that take incredible pride in craftsmanship and quality detailing. These institutions are a great counter to the fast fashion industry. It’s more expensive because it’s not mass produced. It’s better. It’s built to last. And when you champion this ethos and create something that looks beyond trend and focuses on a certain timelessness, it’s a no brainer.
Focusing on the versatility as I mentioned earlier, I love wearing it casually — tied with an almost-four-in-hand — over the top of a plain jumper, or button down, with jeans and trainers. Here, however, I opted for a slightly smarter look with tonal colours. I often lean towards browns, creams and and gold when it comes to outfit palettes, so finally being able to get my hands on this scarf, was something of a God-send. The accents pull it all together, such is the plethora of colour in the beautiful accessory.
I bought this scarf via The Rake, and it sold out not long after that. However, it is still available directly on Drake’s’ website, here, or in-store. If you’ve not seen their new location on Savile Row, make sure you do so.
