Wedding Outfit: Part II
After our wedding ceremony had finished, we had a short break before the evening reception. Although we didn't have a strict dress code, Kavya and I decided to coordinate with our wedding theme and colours of green and gold. Similarly to the wedding outfit, I based the colours of my outfit around Kavya's stunning dress - this time courtesy of Mokshaa.
Once I had seen it, I knew exactly how to style my reception outfit - a black three piece, forest and dark green accessories, and gold accents.
The outfit on the whole took me around three months to curate, and I managed to get individual pieces by all of my favourite brands. I had a lot of alternatives, but if ever there was an excuse to splash out, it was going to be for my wedding. Let's start with the base.
Having worked with Saran Kohli for my Indian wedding outfit, he suggested I go to him for the three piece as well. Saran, as it stands, also works with the Italian master tailor, Oscar Bencivenga. Bencivenga Alta Sartoria, the brand, are based in Knightsbridge. We had two fittings which were very concise and efficient. After browsing through cloths, we settled for Loro Piana's Super 160s and finished it in a traditional cut with peak lapels, and contrasting silk buttons.
The lining of the jacket and waistcoat is where we had a lot of fun. After debating between a few designs, I found a regal paisley in green, gold and black (what are the chances!) from their SS18 collection.
Now that the suit was ready and the base was complete, I had the foundation set. Naturally, I opted for a bespoke crisp white shirt from Turnbull & Asser, finished with a pin collar and double cuffs. I've always loved pin collars, but never really had a reason to own one. The wedding proved to be the perfect excuse!
The pin collar itself was purchased from Hawkins & Shepherd. I bought the gold pawn collar bar (as well as two others just in case) - incredible quality and a steal at £8 each?! I felt like I was robbing them.
Continuing with the jewellery, I've been a fan of Alice Made This ever since my first bit of work with Tom Smarte, and I knew I was going to own something of theirs at some point. I decided on a pair of their Bayley Quink black and blue patina cufflinks, as well as a gold lapel pin. I kept them specifically in a brushed suede pouch from R.M.Williams because no chances were being taken.
In terms of my tie, I had previously owned the awesome Gatsby tie in green by Turnbull & Asser that worked perfectly, and then I completed the look with this wicked Garden of Eden pocket square by Drake's, wireframe spectables by Emporio Armani and a rose gold automatic minimalist wristwatch by Brathwait.
To avoid going too dark and matchy, I decided to utilise my newly purchased Soho Penny loafers by Joseph Cheaney in a lovely tan leather. Et voila, my favourite curated outfit to date. And probably ever.
